The First Lutheran Cemetery serves the entire community of Brookings.

ABOUT

The First Lutheran Cemetery is a community cemetery and columbarium garden, organized to be a peaceful, beautiful place of rest.
Originally established around the time of formation of the congregation in 1880, the cemetery has been served the community faithfully throughout its 140 years.

LOCATION

The cemetery entrance is located on the north side of West 8th Street S., just east of the intersection with 16th Ave W.

FIRST LUTHERAN CEMETERY RULES

  • Sale of all lots must be transacted through First Lutheran Church
  • No permanent plantings of any type on lots
  • All live or artificial flowers must be in a planter and placed on the ends of monument base or foundation
  • No shepherd's hooks, whirly birds or sunken vases are allowed
  • Artificial flowers, decorations, and plants in pots are allowed from May 1 - October 1
