Amen.
God of all mercy and consolation…our Savior and Lord.
Amen.
Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.
Most merciful God,
we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves.
We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.
Forgive us, renew us, and lead us,
so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
In the mercy of almighty God…and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
1Open now thy gates of beauty, Zion, let me enter there, where my soul in joyful duty waits for God who answers prayer. Oh, how blessed is this place, filled with solace, light, and grace!
2Gracious God, I come before thee; come thou also unto me; where we find thee and adore thee, there a heav'n on earth must be. To my heart, oh, enter thou, let it be thy temple now!
3Here thy praise is gladly chanted, here thy seed is duly sown; let my soul, where it is planted, bring forth precious sheaves alone, so that all I hear may be fruitful unto life in me.
4Thou my faith increase and quicken, let me keep thy gift divine; howsoe'er temptations thicken, may thy word still o'er me shine as my guiding star through life, as my comfort in all strife.
5Speak, O God, and I will hear thee, let thy will be done indeed; may I undisturbed draw near thee while thou dost thy people feed. Here of life the fountain flows; here is balm for all our woes.

Music: UNSER HERRSCHER, Joachim Neander, 1650-1680
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And also with you.
1Glory to you, God, for yours is the earth; yours is the promise, the blessing, the birth. Ours the rejoicing for Word given frame; ours the thanksgiving to your holy name. Ours be the telling of deeds greatly done; yours be the glory, O God, yours alone.
2Glory to you, God, for yours is the earth; yours the hosannas, the dying, rebirth. Ours the rejoicing for nature reclaimed; ours the thanksgiving to your holy name. Ours be the telling of deeds greatly done; yours be the glory, O God, yours alone.
3Glory to you, God, for yours is the earth; yours the anointing, the radiant worth. Ours the rejoicing for spirits aflame; ours the thanksgiving to your holy name. Ours be the telling of deeds greatly done; yours be the glory, O God, yours alone.
Let us pray…
Amen.
Word of God, word of life.
Thanks be to God.

1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want.
2The Lord makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside still waters.
3You restore my soul, O Lord, and guide me along right pathways for your name's sake.
4Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil, and my cup is running over.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
The congregation sings the Alleluia; the cantor sings the verse.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
The holy gospel according to Matthew.
Glory to you, O Lord.
The gospel is read.
The gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, O Christ.
1The Lord's my shepherd; I'll not want. He makes me down to lie in pastures green; he leadeth me the quiet waters by. He leadeth me, he leadeth me the quiet waters by.
2My soul he doth restore again, and me to walk doth make within the paths of righteousness, e'en for his own name's sake. Within the paths of righteousness, e'en for his own name's sake.
3Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale, yet will I fear no ill; for thou art with me, and thy rod and staff me comfort still. For thou art with me, and thy rod and staff me comfort still.
4My table thou hast richly spread in presence of my foes; my head thou dost with oil anoint, and my cup overflows. My head thou dost with oil anoint, and my cup overflows.
5Goodness and mercy all my life shall surely follow me, and in God's house forevermore my dwelling-place shall be. And in God's house forevermore my dwelling-place shall be.
Text: The Psalms of David in Meeter, Edinburgh, 1650
Music: BROTHER JAMES' AIR, James L. Macbeth Bain
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
…Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.
…We ask this in Jesus' name.
Amen.
The peace of Christ be with you always.
And also with you.
Your gifts support the mission and ministry of First Lutheran Church.
Give OnlineOur Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
…
Amen.
1Rejoice, ye pure in heart! Rejoice, give thanks, and sing; your festal banner wave on high, the cross of Christ your king.
2With voice as full and strong as ocean's surging praise, send forth the sturdy hymns of old, the psalms of ancient days.
3With all the angel choirs, with all the saints on earth, pour out the strains of joy and bliss, true rapture, noblest mirth.
4Still lift your standard high, still march in firm array, as pilgrims through the darkness wend till dawns the golden day.
RefrainRejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice, give thanks, and sing!
